As in the Days of Noah: Warnings for Today
We look at the deteriorating moral values in our nation–the divorce
rate, abortion, pornography, drug addiction and child abuse. We witness
what has transpired in the homosexual community. We are shocked at the
violent crimes, the drive-by shootings and the terrorism that plagues
our world. What is the world coming to?"As the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be." (Matthew 24:37)
What was it like in the days of Noah?
Compare the days of Noah with our modern times today and you'll notice the striking parallels: (Noah's day vs Today)
1. Oblivious to the signs. Jesus pointed out in Matthew 24:38-39, "For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that [Noah] entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be." The people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage - totally oblivious to the coming judgment of God. It was pretty much business as usual. There was no awareness that the judgment of God was about to fall upon them. They did not realize anything was wrong until Noah went into the ark and the rain began to fall. People today do not realize how ripe the world is for judgment. We see a worldwide financial crisis, disasters, earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, floods, famines and the AIDS epidemic. But try to suggest to a worldly person that these indicate the beginning of sorrows and God’s judgment, and they will laugh at you.
2. Great wickedness and evilness. Genesis 6:5 tells us, “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” As we look at our world today, we see the parallel–the movie industry corrupting our values, television defiling our homes, children’s video games teaching violence–all these are polluting people’s minds until the thoughts and the imagination of man’s heart is continually evil. Some of the major acts of evil we have seen in headlines just recently;
- Senseless murder. Two teenagers killed a man just to know what it was like to kill a person.
- People enter public places to gun down and blow up innocent people.
- Terrorists ramming a van into crowds of tourists.
- Sexual immorality. Young women are kidnapped daily and used as sex slaves all around the world. Premarital sex is encouraged, and same-sex relationships are not just approved of but glorified in the news.
- Sexual and violent entertainment. Movies and video games viewed and played by millions are violent and often pornographic. Celebrities—widely followed by impressionable, young people—dress and perform lewd acts in music videos and on television.
- Theft. All around the globe hackers steal people’s identities and rob them every day.
3. Corruption and violence. We read in Genesis 6:11 that “the earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” Pick up the newspaper and you will see the hostility that fills the earth. Our nation’s morality has sunk extremely low! More murder, more armed conflicts, and more terrorism than ever before. Wars in the past 90 years killed more people than during the previous 500 years combined! An estimated 203 million people were killed by wars just in the 20th century. Just in the last decade, war has claimed the lives of an estimated 2 million children and has disabled another 4 to 5 million children. But what's even more shocking is that in just this past year alone, nearly as many children were murdered via abortion as the total number of people who died in all of World War II combined!
4. Contact with spiritual world. Genesis 6:1-2 reads, "When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose." Here's a strange event in Noah's day. The Bible says that the ‘sons of God’ married the ‘daughters of men’! The ‘sons of God’ is a term used to denote angels, so the chapter starts with the dramatic increase and contact between the human and spirit worlds. In other words we should expect to see a dramatic increase in the contact between humans and the spirit world as the time of Jesus’ return draws closer. Which is exactly what we see taking place already, whether it is through the increased use of spirit guides, alien encounters, or open satanic worship. If you have read anything of those who are allegedly in contact with the ‘aliens’ and ‘spirit guides’ you will notice the same claims coming through that these beings are going to show themselves physically to those on earth soon.
5. Playing God (Genetic manipulation and cloning etc.). Genesis 6:4 says, "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." We read in verse 4 that the Nephilim were on the earth in those days… and not only then because we read, ‘and also afterward’. The word ‘Nephilim’ means ‘fallen ones’ and they were the giants, men of renown, who were the offspring of the fallen angels and women as mentioned above. It was Satan’s attempt to pervert God’s plan of having the Messiah come from the seed of a woman (Gen 3:15 ). Satan's demons could have selected and indwelt certain men and women, and performed selective breeding experiments to produce over the generations a race of giants. This corruption of the human race was the main reason for the flood, and it is happening again. This time it is humans initiating the corruption through cloning and DNA manipulation. There very well may be good intentions involved but you cannot help but think where it will all end when a sinful fallen race decides to play God. The creation of hybrids and chimeras, a sickening violation of God's created kinds (Genesis 1:20-25, 6:1-4). With genetic breakthroughs like CRISPR, mankind has begun playing god with wanton and arrogant abandonment - manipulating and hybridizing species in a way God never intended. Geneticists are even on the verge of creating brand new life forms. God stepped in (in a big way!) to put a stop to the corruption in the time of Noah and God will put a stop to it again. Obviously we cannot speak with certainty about the 'giants' of Noah's time, for the Bible gives little detail. But, if today animal genes can be inserted into human DNA, could it not have been accomplished by malevolent spiritual beings bent on destruction of the "image of God"?
6. Mockers and scoffers. 2 Peter 3:3-7 reads, "Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly." Unbelievers and Christians-in-name-only are mocking both the Flood and the rapture and arguing that the Flood never happened. This scoffing only began in the 19th century. Before that, most men in the West believed in divine creation. Anyone who believes in the global flood today is ridiculed by Darwinian evolutionists as if they believed in a flat earth. As for the rapture, the world today laughs at the doctrine of Christ’s return. Even a large number of professing Christians do not believe that His coming is imminent. They have spiritualized the prophecies, so they don’t believe in a literal fulfillment of the book of Revelation. These have only taken place within the past century!
1. "Noah" is the most popular baby name in the United States for the fourth or fifth year in a row. Noah! Is that really just a coincidence?
2. The rainbow is back. Synonymous with the days of Noah is the rainbow. God described the rainbow in Genesis 9:13-17 as a sign that He would never again destroy all life on the earth with a Flood. Yet we know from 2 Peter 3 that another global cataclysm will come, but this time by fire - and the world is willfully ignorant. It is also interesting that it is the LGBT movement that has stolen the rainbow for their own use. The Apostle Paul uses homosexuality as an example of why God's wrath is coming (Romans 1:18-32).
3. For the first time in human history, full-scale replicas of Noah's Ark have been built. And we're not just talking one replica, but three. There is now a witness to the reality of Noah's Ark and the global Flood in Asia, Europe, and North America. It has been roughly 4,300 years since the Flood and now for the first time ever, just this past decade, there are full-scale replicas of the ark - and you mean to tell me this doesn't mean anything?
4. The terrorist organization, Hamas, has killed hundreds of Israeli citizens, as well as Americans, since 1987. "Hamas" is actually the same word used in Genesis 6:11 and Genesis 6:13 to describe the violence that was on the earth shortly before the Flood came. Is that just coincidence? Look at the Hebrew interlinear below!
The parallels are astounding, and there is no doubt that God's judgment is not far off. So let us pray that God will draw our hearts unto the things of the Spirit and free us from the bondage of corruption that holds the world in its grip.
